Mother's Day

After all our mothers have done for us, the least we can do is to say thank you, and provide a day of appreciation. That's why Mother's Day was made a holiday in 1914.

Over the years the way we celebrate the day has involved the gift of flowers, kids preparing breakfast in bed, or dad making reservations for brunch. For many, the celebration of the day involves getting together with family.

While many have a serious appreciation for the day and pay homage to their mothers, there are those who find the day cause for celebrating with humor. Years ago Tripp Evans said, "My mother is going to have to stop lying about her age because pretty soon I'm going to be older than she is." That could bring a chuckle as you celebrate the day!

Another humorist once said, "The best way for a child to remember his mother's special day is to forget it once." On that point, take my word for it! Always remember Mother's Day!
